I use Power-Burst Rough in combination with natural gut and It works well for me. I got the idea from the combination that Federer uses. I get good power and control and top spin. Only problem is that the gut wears out long before the the Power Burst.
Been a client for more than 20 years. The product is always good and prices fair. I also want to congratulate Klipper USA for finally having a good looking website!
Since I am unfamiliar with the playability of this string, I restrung my racquet, a Head Prestige MP, at the median tension of 57. I used my Kipper Stringer, which I've had for about 8 years now.
I played a buddy of mine today on green clay and I played pretty well. I won the first 2 sets each by the score of 6-2.
During the first 2 sets, I had a winning streak of 11 consecutive games, which was astonishing. We had not played one another for several years and I had never beaten him 11 consecutive games in a match, and we have played many times over 17 years of knowing each other. In fact, I had tied my longest winning-streak of 11 consecutive games against another player that I defeated in a tournament many years ago on the same court! That was really astonishing!
Anyway, we decided to continue playing sets and my buddy won the next two sets by a score of 6-4, 6-4, but by that time, I had grown tired and he had more gas in the tank. I gotta start jogging more and getting my endurance up. I don't blame the racquet or string. When I tire, I make more mistakes and I'm slower getting in position to hit the ball.
Anyway, overall, I maintained good control. Forehands were solid. Cross court passes were working. Approach shots were effective; most of the time, I didn't over hit beyond the baseline. Overheads were clean and solid -- no spraying of the ball -- and I served well, too.
I am about a 3.8 player and on good days, I can be a solid 4.0. I am not a power player. I don't hit lots of winners. My game tends to be more of a game of finness and placement with the occasional show of power. To this day, I have never broken a string and I've been playing tennis seriously since I was the age of 27.
What about my backhand? Well, the jury is still out. I hit a one-handed backhand, but I have been struggling since Bablot stopped producing their uncoated natural gut about 7 or 8 years ago. For me, their VS Natural Gut with the coating just doesn't have the same feel and so I have been unable to execute my backhand shots the way I did with the original uncoated Babalot Gut, and I've tried many string since then. Well, with this string, I had some decent backhands, but I have been so tentative with my backhand for so long that I have been fearful of finishing my stroke for fear of losing control of my shot or hitting the ball long. Therefore, I have to practice backhands with a ball machine, or a practice buddy so that I can remember what it feels like to finish my backhand stroke and keep the ball on the court with confidence.
As for serving, it was consistent. I was able to generate good pace on the majority of my first services, and I double faulted an average of only once or twice per set.
Also, I had good feel and was able to execute some nice drop shots, although I didn't attempt many. I'll have to practice that more as well, since I was successful on most of my few attempts.
I intend to restring another identical racquet with this string at a slightly lower tension for a little more power, since the control appears to be pretty good at 57 lbs,
Overall, I like the string even though I have played with it only once.
